Cut by Dolphins The Dolphins released McKinney on Monday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports. Impact A 2015 second-round pick, McKinney spent his first six NFL seasons in Houston before a shoulder injury ended his 2020 season after just four games. The Mississippi State product was dealt to Miami in March, but he was unable to crack the final roster. Elandon Roberts likely will bump into a starting inside linebacker role for the Dolphins now. With at least 95 tackles in four straight seasons before his injury-shortened 2020 campaign, McKinney could compete for a starting job elsewhere.
