Showing improvement Coach Sean Payton is pleased with Nix's progress and told reporters the QB played "overall, pretty well" Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Impact Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post suggests Wednesday represented Nix's best day of practice in pads as well as his best showing yet with the first-team offense. The Broncos also have given QBs Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson work with the starters, although it's unclear if that will continue for Wilson given that he's now gone three days in a row without any first-team reps, per Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post. The job battle may be narrowing down to two QBs with preseason games on the horizon, and Nix remains a favorite to start Week 1 if only because he's facing such shaky competition.
