Impact Allen needed only four days to clear the COVID-19 protocol, but the Bengals still opted to elevate Jake Browning to the active roster which would indicate Allen still isn't quite up to speed. Neither quarterback is expected to see any time with Joe Burrow healthy and coming off a career day in the win over the Ravens last week.

Added to COVID-19 list Cincinnati placed Allen on the reserve/COVID-19 list after he tested positive for the virus, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact Allen will need to clear the NFL's COVID-19 protocols before seeing action again, and the Bengals will be left without their top backup behind starter Joe Burrow for the time being. Jake Browning will slot in as Cincinnati's No. 2 quarterback until Allen returns.

Impact Coach Zac Taylor has held out Burrow for both of the Bengals' first two exhibitions, as the second-year signal-caller still is just nine months removed from suffering a torn ACL, torn MCL and other structural damage in his left knee. In preseason Week 1 in Tampa Bay, Allen completed seven of 10 passes for 77 yards and an interception while working the entire first half. He could be in line for a similar allotment of snaps before giving way to Kyle Shurmur after halftime.
