Back from IR The Texans activated Scarlett (forearm) from IR on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact Scarlett resumed practicing last week, and it now looks like he'll be back in action for Sunday's contest in Indianapolis. He usually handles a rotational role at outside linebacker, but the Texans could always opt to ease Scarlett back into action.

Returns to practice Scarlett (forearm) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Mark Lane of USA Today reports.

Impact Scarlett returned to practice for the first time since suffering a fractured forearm Nov. 8 against the Jaguars. Prior to the injury, Scarlett averaged 31.8 defensive snaps per game, registering 25 tackles over eight contests. Once he's cleared to return, he should retake the starting outside linebacker role.

Hopeful to return in 2020 Coach Romeo Crennel said Wednesday that he hopes Scarlett (forearm) will be able to return from IR this season, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact The Texans placed Scarlett on injured reserve earlier this week after he underwent surgery to address a fractured forearm. For at least the next three weeks, and possibly longer, the Texans could rely on one of Jonathan Greenard and Nate Orchard to slot into a starting role at outside linebacker.

Impact Scarlett suffered a fractured forearm during Sunday's win over the Jaguars, and he's expected to face an extended absence. The Texans are expected to get Whitney Mercilus and back from the COVID-19 list this week, but they'll still be shorthanded at linebacker. Jonathan Greenard and Nate Orchard are candidates to slot into a starting role on the outside.
