Misses practice Sterns (hip) was held out of practice Monday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports. Impact Sterns sat out due to hip soreness after playing 54 snaps in Saturday's win over the Vikings, the second most of any Broncos defender. The rookie safety has had a strong training camp thus far, and his performance Saturday continued to impress, as he registered a team-high six tackles and had a touchdown-saving pass breakup in the end zone. Sterns is currently battling to take hold of the No. 3 safety spot behind veterans Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons, and he is certainly making a convincing case with his play on the field. If the 21-year-old can bounce back quickly from his hip issue, he will have another opportunity to build upon his recent success when the Broncos visit the Seahawks in Week 2 of the preseason.
