Impact Beyond ruling out McCaffrey ahead of the Week 4 contest and stating that the running back wasn't going to go on injured reserve, head coach Matt Rhule hasn't commented on McCaffrey's availability moving forward. However, when McCaffrey initially strained his hamstring in the Sept. 23 win over the Texans, Rhule suggested the star back would be out for "a few weeks," so the prevailing thought is that he'll be sidelined for a second straight contest next weekend. The Panthers could formally rule McCaffrey out for Week 5 when they reconvene for practice Wednesday.

Impact Chinn placed second on the Panthers in stops, posting his best tally of the campaign as well. Although his pace has been slower to begin his second season, Chinn's every-down involvement should see him breakthrough with higher tackling totals before long, perhaps as early as Week 5 versus the Eagles.

Impact Chandler led the Panthers in stops after being promoted in the wake of teammate Juston Burris (groin) being placed on IR. Should he again remain in a starting role in Week 5 versus the Eagles, Chandler would figure to have more opportunities to improve his stock further.

Zane Gonzalez - Misses field goal Gonzalez missed his only field-goal attempt but made all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 36-28 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Gonzalez went wide left from 54 yards on his lone field-goal opportunity. Although another miss won't help Gonzalez' job security, it being a long-distance misfire is at least more excusable and the veteran made his four other kicks Sunday. Through three games with the Panthers, Gonzalez now boasts 18 points.

Tommy Tremble - No catches Sunday Tremble didn't haul in his only target in Sunday's 36-28 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact The drop wasn't exactly his fault, as he took a massive hit from Damontae Kazee that drew a personal foul (defenseless receiver) flag as he tried to bring down the pass from San Darnold. Tremble played nearly 40 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps in the team's first game since trading fellow tight end Dan Arnold. Although that involvement didn't result in any catches for Tremble, the rookie third-rounder should benefit from a growing role alongside Ian Thomas over the course of the campaign.

Terrace Marshall Jr. - Only one catch Marshall caught one of three targets for two yards in Sunday's 36-28 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Marshall played over 70 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps, yet hardly got involved in the passing game. The rookie second-rounder is still hunting for his first touchdown and hasn't topped 50 yards in a game yet either, but Marshall's role alongside DJ Moore and Robby Anderson at least gives him upside as a complementary option.

Ian Thomas - Logs three receptions Thomas caught all three of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 36-28 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Thomas no longer had competition from Dan Arnold after the veteran was traded earlier in the week, allowing him to play over 60 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps. Overall though, Thomas' production wasn't too different from his usual output, as he caught a few short passes underneath. Despite now being the nominal starter, Thomas' upside remains restricted by his relatively small role within the Panthers' scheme, and rookie third-round tight end Tommy Tremble could also see his role grow over the course of the campaign.

Brandon Zylstra - Career-long grab Zylstra caught both his targets for 63 yards in Sunday's 36-28 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Zylstra's output was supported by a career-long catch of 55 yards. Only DJ Moore outgained him through the air among Carolina receivers, but while Zylstra has been sprinkled in occasionally so far, his low overall involvement restricts his weekly value.

Rodney Smith - Makes five grabs Smith caught all five of his targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 36-28 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Smith was promoted to Carolina's active roster to help replace Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) alongside Chuba Hubbard and Royce Freeman. Hubbard led the backfield with 15 touches for 71 scrimmage yards, but Smith was used more than Freeman, playing 26 snaps to the veteran's 12. That involvement didn't garner Smith a carry, but he was featured as a pass-catcher in the second half as Carolina tried to mount a comeback, with only top wideout DJ Moore hauling in more receptions. Although it's unclear if McCaffrey will remain sidelined in Week 5 versus the Eagles, Smith's usage Sunday boosts his value behind Hubbard should the Panthers again be without their superstar tailback.

Royce Freeman - Just three touches Freeman rushed three times for 12 yards in Sunday's 36-28 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Freeman was listed as Carolina's second option at tailback with Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) sidelined, but that role still didn't offer him much usage. Overall, the veteran played just 12 offensive snaps, trailing both starter Chuba Hubbard (33 snaps) and fellow reserve Rodney Smith (26 snaps). If McCaffrey remains sidelined for Week 5's matchup against the Eagles, Freeman would have another shot at helping fill in, but his spare involvement Sunday should keep expectations tempered, especially with Smith factoring in behind Hubbard.
