Impact With Zack Moss recovering from a foot injury, there's been some thought Brown could take on a huge workload this Sunday against the Giants. That's still a possibility, only now there's another variable. The Bengals' No. 3 running back, Trayveon Williams, has largely been a special teams player throughout his six-year pro career.

While Brown's usage is already on the upswing, he could have the backfield to himself in Week 6 against the Giants, as Zack Moss suffered an ankle injury late in the fourth quarter Sunday and didn't get another touch the rest of the way.

Draws even split in backfield Brown rushed the ball 15 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 34-24 win over the Panthers. He added two receptions on three targets for 12 yards.

Impact After showcasing strong efficiency on limited touches through three games, Brown managed to match Zack Moss' workload in Week 4. That began early on near the goal line when Brown replaced Moss and punched in the team's first touchdown of the day from three yards away. With the team in positive game script for much of the second half, Brown split carries evenly and tallied another touchdown from one yard out while also recording a long run of 20 yards. It's unclear whether Brown has secured this role consistently moving forward, but his usage Sunday was a significant step forward for his fantasy utility.

Leading rusher on seven totes Brown rushed seven times for 62 yards and caught two of three targets for seven yards in Monday's 38-33 loss to the Commanders.

Impact Brown continued to excel in his current change-of-pace role behind starter Zack Moss (12-58-1) in Monday's primetime loss. The sophomore rusher wound up leading the Bengals in rushing yards despite receiving five less carries than the team's incumbent starter. Brown would need a promotion or an injury to open up playing time to become a trustworthy fantasy option in standard leagues. That said, his strong production on a per-touch basis this season highlights a potential stash option as the season progresses. Those in deeper formats can give the 2023 fifth-round pick a look against the Panthers in Week 4.

Limited impact in loss Brown rushed four times for 31 yards while also returning a kick for 28 yards in Sunday's 26-25 loss to Kansas City.

Impact Brown was limited to just four touches while playing 13 of the team's 64 offensive snaps, most notably scampering for a 12-yard rush in the fourth quarter. The running back is firmly behind Zack Moss as Cincinnati's No. 2 option in the backfield in the early going as Moss played 51 snaps with the offense. Through two games, Brown has turned seven carries into 42 rushing yards while securing all three of his targets for 12 yards. His 6.0 yards per carry is promising compared to Moss's 3.7 and Brown will likely see his workload increase as the season goes on. After a pair of tough matchups to open the season, Brown will look to get loose against the Commanders' defense that has allowed 241 rushing yards through two games.

Six touches in loss Brown rushed three times for 11 yards and caught all three of his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Patriots.

Impact Brown was on the field for just 17 of the Bengals' 51 offensive snaps Sunday, roughly half of teammate Zack Moss who finished with 33 snaps in the contest. The split between the two backs was unclear entering the contest, but Moss seemed to be the preferred option while carrying the ball nine times and seeing four targets through the air. Though Brown's role left much to be desired for fantasy managers hoping he could take a step forward this season, there is certainly room to grow as the more explosive option on a team that struggled offensively in Week 1. The 24-year-old will look to take on a larger share of Cincinnati's split backfield when the Bengals visit the Chiefs in Week 2.

Set to share work with Moss The nature of Cincinnati's backfield split between Brown and Zack Moss remains somewhat unclear ahead of Sunday's game against New England, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.

Impact There's agreement from Bengals beat writers that both RBs will be heavily involved, and the good news for fantasy is that there may even be room for both to thrive with the team opening its season at home as a heavy favorite. The Bengals won't always be favored by more than a touchdown, of course, and there will be plenty of weeks in which WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins comfortably outproduce the running backs. It'll thus be important to keep close tabs on how the Bengals deploy Moss and Brown in various situations, although there's some chance it's more of a hot-hand approach than anything else. Brown is much faster and more dangerous in the open field, but Moss is viewed as a superior blocker and could thus take a lot of playing time in pass situations even if he's less threatening on screens and dump-offs. And while Moss is a logical favorite for goal-line carries, it's possible even those opportunities are split between the two RBs to some degree.

Heavy workload on opening drive Brown rushed five times for 10 yards and brought in his only target for no gain in the Bengals' 17-14 preseason loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday night.

Impact With Zack Moss (illness) sidelined, Brown got the starting nod and saw a hefty workload on the opening possession. Brown logged three straight carries starting with the second play from scrimmage, with his game-long run of six yards coming on the final touch in that sequence. The second-year back added a five-yard gain later in the drive as he prepares to handle what will presumably be a markedly larger volume of touches than the 58 he logged across 12 regular-season games as a rookie while sharing the backfield with the departed Joe Mixon.

Working with starters a lot Brown took a majority of first-team reps during the first three practices of training camp, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports.

Impact Free-agent signing Zack Moss is healthy and also getting some first-team work, but apparently not quite as much as Brown, a 2023 fifth-round pick who averaged 8.8 touches for 53.7 yards over the final six weeks of last season. It was a promising finish to his rookie year, with the stipulation that Brown's production came from a few big plays rather than snap-to-snap consistency (he also played only eight snaps on offense before Week 13). There are some other positives in his profile, including a 4.43 40-yard dash (at 5-foot-10, 209 pounds) and a senior season at Illinois with 355 touches for 1,883 yards and 13 TDs. The question now is whether Brown shows enough skill development to earn a starting job over the steady-but-boring Moss.

Opportunity knocks as Mixon traded Brown bumps up to the No. 2 spot on Cincinnati's depth chart behind Zack Moss, with Joe Mixon being traded to the Texans on Tuesday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN reports.

Impact Brown earned a larger role in Cincinnati's offense during the second half of his rookie season, securing the No. 2 gig for himself during the final six games of the campaign, but he ended the year with just 44 carries for 179 yards, plus 14 catches for 156 yards and a score. Though Moss is coming off an impressive season in Indianapolis, Brown could offer him real competition for touches, depending on what other additions the Bengals make to the running back depth chart.

Handles six touches Brown rushed four times for 16 yards and secured both of his targets for eight yards in Saturday's 34-11 loss to the Steelers.

Impact Brown operated as the Bengals' No. 2 running back Saturday, 14 of Cincinnati's 64 offensive snaps. Meanwhile, starter Joe Mixon played 38 snaps and carried the ball 11 times in the contest. Brown has earned extra opportunities in recent weeks, but he saw a dip in his recent usage on a day when the Bengals struggled to get much going on offense. The rookie will look to get more involved behind Mixon in a Week 17 matchup with the Chiefs.
