Impact Edmonds saw six less carries than backfield mate Raheem Mostert, a significant change considering that he handled a lead role in Week 1. It's worth noting that Edmonds did play well against Baltimore outside of a dubious tripping penalty, and he had a 23-yard run with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter that proved key in securing Miami's comeback. That said, Mostert opened the game as the starter, indicating that his lead role was part of the game plan and not simply a matter of riding the hot hand. Coach Mike McDaniel's backfield usage could vary on a weekly basis, making Edmonds a risky fantasy play versus the Bills in Week 3.

Impact Edmonds started the game while Raheem Mostert (coach's decision) sat out, but the former was in for just the first series and part of the second before exiting. Impact McDaniel said he doesn't "want to limit an opportunity by having a preconceived notion," noting that a player like Raheem Mostert having familiarity with the scheme may not provide an advantage in training camp's competition. On the other hand, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports that McDaniel lauded Edmond's "cerebral approach," one which he called "unique" among Miami's backfield. "He knows every receiver assignment and he's understanding of the blocking schemes and all that," McDaniel said. "But more so, he has a combination of feel to apply abstract coaching points." Those comments speak to Edmond's three-down versatility, which when combined with the fact that he signed a two-year, $12.1 million contract with the Dolphins, still appears to make him the favorite to lead what could be a multi-headed rushing attack.
