Dealt to Cleveland The Patriots are trading Winovich to the Browns in exchange for LB Mack Wilson, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Impact Wilson is an off-ball linebacker, while Winovich is more of an edge rusher. Both have starting experience, yet mostly served as backups in 2021. For Winovich, it was a disappointing season in which he failed to record a sack and played only 13.5 percent of New England's defensive snaps in his 13 games. Prior to that, the 2019 third-round pick had 5.5 sacks as a rookie and another 5.5 in his second season. It remains to be seen if the Browns view Winovich as a likely starter of a sub-package player for 2022, the final season of his rookie contract.

Impact Winovich injured his hamstring in Week 6 against Dallas and was placed on IR on Oct. 19. He returned to practice with the team on Nov. 11 clearing the way for his activation. He is now eligible to play Thursday against the Falcons.
