The transaction opens up a spot on the 53-man roster for fellow wideout Antonio Brown (ankle), who returns from a three-game suspension and could absorb a good portion of the 9.1 targets per contest Godwin had averaged through Tampa Bay's first 14 games.

Impact Godwin was believed to have suffered an MCL sprain in Sunday's loss to the Saints, but he underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed a torn ACL. The 25-year-old appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers in 2021 and secured 98 of 127 targets for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns while rushing four times for 21 yards and another score.
