Impact Sutton says he wants to play in all three games, while the Broncos plan to limit him to one (presumably brief) appearance. He was a partial participant in spring practices and may now be limited to begin training camp, but the 25-year-old wideout seems confident he'll bounce back from his ACL tear in time to play in an August exhibition. Sutton enters his fourth NFL season as the relative veteran among a talented group of young pass catchers, joined by WRs Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick as well as TE Noah Fant. Meanwhile, Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater will compete for the starting QB job.

Impact Sutton said in May that he was on track for training camp, and Broncos head coach Vic Fangio backed that sentiment up in mid-June, when he said the wideout wasn't likely to be placed on the PUP list. Coming back from ACL and MCL tears suffered in Week 2 last season, Sutton will be about 11 months removed from surgery when the Broncos kick off their 2021 campaign Sept. 12 at the Giants. The 25-year-old is in the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, playing in a Denver offense that looks solid at every position besides quarterback. Barring a late trade acquisition, the Broncos will have Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater competing for the starting quarterback job this August.

Impact Sutton, who missed all but one contest last season after tearing his left ACL and MCL, said he feels "really good" at this stage of his recovery, per Stevens. Entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, Sutton appears set to serve as one of Denver's clear top targets alongside 2020 first-round pick Jerry Jeudy. The likes of Noah Fant, KJ Hamler, Tim Patrick and Albert Okwuegbunam (knee) also will demand targets, as will running backs Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, but Sutton is talented enough that his position atop the pecking order won't be challenged, as long as he's healthy. It may be fair to question whether Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater are capable of providing enough volume to feed such a crowded receiving corps, however.

Impact There was a ton of hope that Sutton could push himself into a borderline top ten receiver in the league in his third NFL season. It didn't work out that way as he missed the Broncos' opener against Tennessee with a shoulder injury and went down with an ACL tear in Week 2, just three catches in to the campaign. With that in mind, 2021 will be enormous for Sutton. Not only will it be a contract year for the SMU product, but how the 25-year0ld helps lead a very young offense could determine the path of the franchise and which players (and coaches) will be around in 2022. Showing signs of recovery just four months after going down in Pittsburgh is a step in the right direction.
