Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert placed on COVID-19/reserve list With the Eagles on a short week hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Thursday Night Football, it’s unlikely Goedert will be able to play.

Positive COVID-19 test confirmed Goedert's (illness) placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier Tuesday was the result of a positive test, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Impact Since Goedert is fully vaccinated, he won't have to spend a minimum of 10 days on the list, but he'll still need to be asymptomatic and produce two negative test results at least 24 hours apart before he's eligible to rejoin the Eagles. Given the timing of the positive test, Goedert is doubtful to be available for Thursday's game against the Buccaneers. Assuming that's the case, the Eagles will likely scale back their two-tight end sets and more prominently feature Zach Ertz as their top option at the position. Ertz handled snap shares ranging from 50 to 62 percent over the first five games while frequently sharing the field with Goedert.

Impact Philadelphia hasn't disclosed whether Goedert has tested positive for COVID-19, but the timing of his placement on the list is notable after the tight end was listed as a non-participant for Monday's walk-through practice due to an illness. If Goedert -- who is vaccinated -- has in fact tested positive, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer notes that the 26-year-old will need to be asymptomatic and produce two negative tests 24 hours apart before rejoining the team. Given those hurdles he'll likely need to clear, Goedert looks unlikely to play Thursday against the Buccaneers, which should pave the way for Zach Ertz to see a larger share of the reps at tight end.

Impact Goedert scored a three-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give the Eagles a 10-7 lead, then had what would have been his second touchdown of the first half wiped out by an illegal formation penalty. Impact Goedert looked like he might have been on his way to a big game when he caught the Eagles' first pass of the game for a 38-yard pickup. He would only see one more look in the half before starting the third quarter much the same way he started the first, with another big gain of 28 yards on the first play of the period. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old's production continues to be drained by the presence of Zach Ertz, who caught four balls on seven targets for 53 yards and a touchdown while playing one more snap than Goedert.
