Moves off IR Goedert (lower leg/ankle) was activated off injured reserve Saturday and will play in Sunday's contest against the Cowboys.
Impact It remains to be seen how much Goedert will actually play, but this is nevertheless fantastic news for fantasy managers considering most experts assumed the tight end would be out through the team's Week 9 bye. It's possible that because this is a divisional contest against the Cowboys, the team was intent on having all weapons on hand which would also explain the activation of Jalen Reagor (thumb), although that doesn't necessarily assume the lumbering tight end will return to his full workload right away. Expect Goedert and Richard Rodgers to split snaps in some capacity as the former works his way back into game shape in this pivotal contest.

Keeping door open for Week 8 return Goedert (lower leg/ankle) said Thursday that he hasn't ruled himself out from playing this weekend against the Cowboys, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Impact When Goedert was placed on injured reserve Sept. 29 after being diagnosed with a small fracture in his tibia in addition to a high-ankle sprain, the prevailing expectation was that he would be sidelined through the Eagles' Week 9 bye. However, after taking part in practice Wednesday when the Eagles designated him to return from IR, Goedert noted that his ankle responded well to the activity, leaving the possibility open for him to return to action sooner than expected. For now, the Eagles are labeling Goedert as day-to-day and are non-committal on his status for Week 8, so an official word on his status may not come until Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, the deadline for the Eagles to add him to the roster ahead of the game against Dallas. If the Eagles err on the side of caution and keep Goedert on IR through their bye, Richard Rodgers would be in store for another turn as the team's top tight end.

Impact Slowly but surely, a banged-up Eagles pass-catching group is beginning to get healthier. While tight end Zach Ertz (ankle) and wideout DeSean Jackson (ankle) are expected to remain on IR for several more weeks, both Goedert and rookie Jalen Reagor (thumb) have been cleared to resume practicing this week, and Alshon Jeffery (calf/foot) should have a shot at making his season debut Sunday against Dallas. Goedert's return to practice doesn't necessarily mean the Eagles are counting on him being ready to play this weekend, as Wednesday's transaction merely opens up a 21-day window during which the team can evaluate him for a return. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported a few days earlier that Goedert is hopeful to return from IR following the Eagles' Week 9 bye, so Richard Rodgers still looks poised to serve as Philadelphia's top tight end for at least one more game.
