Designated to return from IR Williams (ankle) was designated to return from injured reserve Tuesday, Clifton Brown of the Ravens' official website reports.

Impact Williams has been out since undergoing ankle surgery in early August and the team has now opened a 21-day window for him to return to practice and ultimately be added to the active roster. If he cannot make his return within the 21 days, the cornerback will remain on IR for the rest of the season.

Impact After two years at community college, Williams moved on to Houston, where he played 34 games (33 starts) over three seasons. He's not shy about being physical with receivers, and he showed discipline in avoiding penalties.
