Gets one-year extension Mills and the Texans agreed Wednesday on a one-year, $5 million extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Impact Mills is entering the final season of his four-year rookie contract, so the extension will keep him in the fold through the 2025 campaign. Rapoport adds that the contract contains incentives based on playing time, but the Texans are hopeful that Mills won't be needed for much more than spot duty if franchise quarterback C.J. Stroud can maintain health. Over 34 career regular-season contests, Mills went 5-19-1 as a starter and has completed 573 of 912 attempts (62.8 percent) for 5,955 yards, 35 touchdowns and 25 interceptions while adding 161 yards and two scores on 52 carries. He was used sparingly behind Stroud in 2023 but showed improved efficiency this preseason, completing 18 of 26 passes for 191 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
