Impact Hopkins tended to a tight hamstring from mid August until recently, when he was limited Wednesday with what was termed a non-injury. Now healthy, he can turn his attention to producing with new signal-caller Kyler Murray following the trade from Houston to Arizona. Over the last six years with the Texans, Hopkins racked up at last 1,100 yards five times and totaled 52 touchdowns in 94 games.

Impact Hopkins missed some practice reps in the second half of August due to a tight hamstring, but the injury hasn't tagged along into the regular season. With no health concern to speak of, he can begin to the live up to the two-year, $54.5 million extension he inked with the Cardinals on Tuesday. Prior to joining the team back in March, Hopkins managed a huge burden for the Texans, handling 162.9 targets per 16 games during his last six seasons in Houston. He may not sniff that number in 2020 in an offense that also includes Kenyan Drake, Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald, but yet another 1,000-yard campaign is a logical goal for Hopkins as he works with ascending QB Kyler Murray.

Finalizes megadeal Hopkins (hamstring) agreed Tuesday with the Cardinals on a two-year, $54.5 million contract extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Now locked up through the 2024 season, Hopkins' annual average salary of $27.25 million makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. He'll receive a $27.5 million signing bonus and take home $42.75 million guaranteed in the new deal, which also includes a no-trade clause. The Cardinals' big financial commitment is a deserved reward for Hopkins, who earned first-team All-Pro honors in each of his final three years with the Texans before being traded in March. While serving as the top target in a Kyler Murray-led Arizona offense that is expected to run one of the NFL's fastest tempos, Hopkins should have a good chance at reaching 1,500 receiving yards for the third time in his career.

Impact Hopkins' new extension is expected to surpass Julio Jones' current average salary of $22 million per season. The star wideout is entering the third season of a five-year, $81 million extension, but it was always expected that dissatisfaction with that contract played a role in Hopkins being traded from Houston to Arizona earlier this offseason. A hamstring injury has hampered Hopkins since mid-August, but there's not yet reason to worry about his availability for Sept. 13's season-opener against San Francisco.
