Impact Listed as the No. 5 receiver on Jacksonville's unofficial depth chart, Westbrook already looked headed for a smaller role in 2020, but his inactive status for the season opener comes as something of a surprise. Rather than having Westbrook suit up as a depth option at receiver, rookie Collin Johnson will dress as Jacksonville's fifth wideout, with the coaching staff perhaps viewing the fifth-round pick out of Texas as someone who can make more of an impact on special teams.

Impact After missing a week and a half of practice, Westbrook now appears on track to be ready for Week 1 against the Colts. It was DJ Chark who had a big season instead, locking himself in as the Jags' No. 1 receiver for the foreseeable future. Westbrook still figures to get slot snaps early this season, but he could be facing a challenge from rookie second-round pick Laviska Shenault. Impact As Marrone acknowledges, a multi-faceted role wouldn't be anything new for Shenault, who lined up out wide, in the slot, at tight end and in the backfield during his three-year career at Colorado. The Jaguars' depth chart at receiver is somewhat unsettled beyond top option DJ Chark, so Shenault could parlay a solid showing in training camp and the preseason into a regular spot in three-receiver formations. Even if all of Chark, Dede Westbrook and Chris Conley enter the season ahead of him in the pecking order, Shenault's versatility could allow him to find reps in the backfield, as Jacksonville lacks an experienced change-of-pace option behind Leonard Fournette beyond the historically injury prone Chris Thompson. As a junior at Colorado in 2019, Shenault did most of his damage as a pass catcher (56 receptions for 764 yards and four touchdowns), though he was effective as a ball carrier (23 totes for 161 yards and two touchdowns) when his number was called.
