Impact As the 49ers enter their Week 11 bye, Samuel has missed six of the team's first 10 games of the season en route to 16 catches (on 22 targets) for 185 yards and one touchdown. If he is able to prove the health of his hamstring and return Week 12, San Francisco's group of wide receivers will be at its healthiest at any point on the campaign.

Impact Samuel hasn't yet practiced this week while nursing a lingering hamstring issue. Impact Samuel was ruled out of the 49ers' Week 9 matchup with the Packers beforehand due to a hamstring injury, but he joined a couple of his fellow wide receivers on the reserve/COVID-19 list due to being a "high-risk" close contact of Kendrick Bourne (illness). Removed from the list last Friday, Samuel still is unable to get on the field, a result of the aforementioned injury suffered Week 7. The 49ers have a Week 11 bye upcoming, so they may opt to hold him out Sunday at New Orleans with the hope he's healthy by a Nov. 29 divisional game with the Rams. In the end, though, Samuel does have two more chances to practice this week before San Francisco makes a ruling on his potential to play.

Back from reserve/COVID-19 list The 49ers activated Samuel (hamstring) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
Impact After teammate Kendrick Bourne was placed on the list Wednesday following a positive COVID-19 test, Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams were added to the list later in the day when the three were identified to be in close contact with Bourne. All four players were then held out of Thursday's 34-17 loss to the Packers, even though Bourne proceeded to test negative Thursday and Friday, seemingly confirming that the initial test result was a false positive. Samuel would have missed the Week 9 contest regardless while he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, but his reinstatement from the COVID-19 list at least removes one potential hurdle as he attempts to return to the lineup Week 10 against the Saints. According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, coach Kyle Shahanan said Friday that he hopes Samuel will be back in action next week, but the wideout's status will ultimately hinge on what he's able to do once the 49ers return to the practice field.
