Gets NFL opportunity Allen signed a contract with the Eagles on Friday, Dave Spadaro of the Eagles' official site reports. Impact Allen hasn't played football since 2016, his third and final season at Oregon. In 2014, his first season with the Ducks, the speedster caught 41 passes for 684 yards and seven touchdowns before suffering a knee injury during the opening kickoff of the Rose Bowl. He was able to return the following season before suffering set another season-ending knee injury, resulting in his desire to pursue his Olympic dream. Allen finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and fourth at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo -- ending just four-tenths of a second away from medaling. After his Olympic efforts, the 27-year-old wanted one more opportunity to try his hand at reaching the NFL, so he participated in Oregon's Pro Day and ran a 4.35 40-yard dash, which quickly drew the attention of Philadelphia's brass. Allen figures to be a long shot to make the Eagles' initial 53-man roster, but his speed certainly makes him an interesting prospect to watch during the offseason.
