Impact The 2021 third-round pick had minimal impact as a rookie, despite getting some starts at the beginning and end of the season. He'll likely be a backup again if everyone is healthy, potentially coming off the bench to provide a deep threat as the No. 4 receiver. Granted, the Commanders don't lack for speed in their starting WR group, with Terry McLaurin joined by Curtis Samuel and first-round pick Jahan Dotson. An opening for Brown to make a fantasy impact might require an injury to one of those three, even with the strong start to training camp.

The team likely envisions a top three comprised of Terry McLaurin, Dotson and a finally healthy Curtis Samuel, with Brown perhaps coming off the bench as a part-time deep threat. Injuries could always throw a hitch in that plan, of course, in which case Brown could have an opportunity to make starts again.

Disappointing debut campaign Brown finished his 2021 rookie season with 12 catches for 165 yards on 25 targets, playing 15 of 17 games and logging 335 snaps on offense.

Impact The third-round pick started his first three games and five of his first six, yet entered the midpoint of the season with only eight catches for 81 yards. Brown then averaged only 11.2 snaps on offense over his final 10 games, stuck in a bench role even as Washington had minimal success finding productive pass catchers apart from top WR Terry McLaurin. While the 22-year-old Brown could get another shot at a starting job come spring/summer, there's no doubt his initial pro campaign was disappointing relative to the expectations and opportunity he had. Of course, he might've been given more time to develop -- rather than named as a Week 1 starter -- if Washington's passing offense wasn't so unimpressive in the first place.

Impact It's been a quiet rookie year for the third-round pick, even though he got plenty of playing time early on. He's been either injured or buried on the depth chart since October, but Brown finally made a big play with his 48-yard gain in the first quarter of Sunday's loss. While a starting job may not be in the cards this year, it is possible Brown gets a little more playing time over the final couple weeks of the season, perhaps stealings snaps from DeAndre Carter.

Impact Brown played just six offensive snaps, sixth most among Washington's wideouts. The rookie third-round pick continues to see his playing time significantly drop off since the beginning of the season and remains a long shot for a breakout in the second half. It's unclear if the reduced snaps has anything to do with a lingering issue from the knee injury he suffered against the Packers in Week 7, or if it's strictly performanced based. Regardless, he likely remains a risky fantasy option moving forward.

Impact Curtis Samuel (groin) was out again, but Washington otherwise had all its wide receivers healthy and chose to use DeAndre Carter (3-56-1 on six targets and 67 percent snap share) as the No. 2 receiver. Brown, Dax Milne (27 percent) and Cam Sims (18 percent) also rotated in for some snaps, but it was mostly Carter and slot specialist Adam Humphries (52 percent) lining up alongside No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin (96 percent). The lack of playing time makes Brown a long shot for a breakout in the second half of his rookie season, especially given that he failed to produce when he got more snaps back in September.
