Facing competition at left tackle Coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that fellow lineman Mekhi Becton's left tackle days "aren't over," Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Fant looked solid at the position after Becton went down Week 1 last season, but protecting sophomore quarterback Zach Wilson is paramount to the Jets' front office, so whoever looks better-suited to guarding his blind side this year is going to end up with the job. Should Becton earn back his spot at left tackle, Fant figures to rotate over to right tackle.

Rejoins team from PUP list The Jets activated Fant off the PUP list Wednesday, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
Impact It appears Fant has fully recovered from the knee issue that's kept him sidelined since late last season. He'll now look to win back his role from 2021 protecting Zach Wilson's blindside at left tackle. Mekhi Becton is also gunning for that job though, and if Becton impresses, Fant may find himself at right tackle to start this regular season.

Headed for PUP list Fant (knee) was placed on the Jets' PUP list before the start of the team's training camp next week, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Fant is expected to participate at some point during training camp, but he will first have to be cleared by the Jets' medical staff before doing so. The 30-year-old offensive tackle started 15 games before ending last season on injured reserve, and he is expected to resume a starting role at one of the team's offensive tackle spots in 2022.
