Impact The tight end continues to pay the price for Jimmy Garoppolo's thumb injury. With the quarterback's ability to throw impaired, the 49ers offense has been even more ground-heavy than usual, requiring Kittle to block more and run fewer routes. He hasn't reached 30 receiving yards in four straight games, managing only a 9-78-0 line on 15 targets over that stretch, and Kittle will likely need a touchdown to make a significant fantasy impact next weekend against the Packers in the divisional round.

Low production remains puzzling Kittle had five receptions (seven targets) for just 10 yards in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win over the Rams.
Impact Kittle finished below 30 yards receiving for the third consecutive week, although the five receptions (for those in PPR formats) was his highest since Week 15. It seems like the 49ers let one of its best offensive weapons simply fade in the game plan at various points this season, much to the chagrin of the star tight end's fantasy managers. Kittle still finished the regular season with 71 receptions, 910 yards and six touchdowns over 14 healthy games, which still falls in the elite category despite being underutilized at times. The 49ers will face a stiff test against the Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs, and it would behoove them to find a way to get one of its two top playmakers involved as a receiver.

Impact Kittle saw little action for the second week in a row, this time with rookie quarterback Trey Lance under center. Head coach Kyle Shanahan tried to get his star tight end involved with his third rushing attempt of the season, but it was little doing. Kittle finally got involved in the passing game late in the second half with an incredible one-handed catch for 29 yards. His only other target this game came on a poor throw into double coverage by Lance that was picked off. While this recent slump is concerning for those with Kittle shares, it would be tough to recommend bypassing such an elite playmaking talent against the Rams in Week 18.

Quieted after quick start Kittle brought in two of three targets for 21 yards in the 49ers' 20-17 loss to the Titans on Thursday night.
Impact Kittle opened the game looking like he'd have no trouble keeping up his momentum from recent games, but his opportunities completely dried up after his third and final target of the night was intercepted in the end zone by Janoris Jenkins with 1:36 remaining in the first quarter. The ultra-talented tight end was surprisingly shut down the rest of the way, leading to his second-lowest reception and receiving yardage totals of the season. Kittle will have a favorable matchup with which to potentially bounce back to his usual numbers in Week 17, as the Texans pay a visit to the 49ers a week from Sunday.
