Impact Coach David Culley said Omenihu isn't expected to be out long, but he was noncommittal about the defensive end's chances of returning by next week. That being the case, it can be expected that Omenihu will sit out Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Packers.

Impact Given that he's dealing with mere muscle tightness, Akins should be back on the practice field soon enough, even if he misses one or two preseason games. Impact The Texans' depth chart did not make any allowances for slot receivers, so Coutee and Anthony Miller are listed at wide receiver and on the second unit. Miller is behind Brandin Cooks. Coutee and Miller are expected to primarily play in the slot, so either one could get ample work in Houston's three-wide formations.

Impact Perhaps Collins, the Texans' third-round draft pick in 2021, is getting the rookie treatment heading into the first preseason game. He's popped early in camp and seemingly was in the mix to start opposite Cooks, but that privilege goes to veteran Chris Conley. It's early and changes will occur between now and the regular season, so interested observers should not read too much into this.

Impact This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, with Taylor continuing to log first-team practice reps and Deshaun Watson's future with the franchise unclear. Currently listed behind Taylor on the unofficial depth chart are Jeff Driskel and rookie Davis Mills, followed by Watson.
