Impact Melifonwu stepped in during Sunday's season opener after Okudah went down, and the rookie recovered a Deebo Samuel fumble late in the fourth quarter to give the Lions the ball back with just under a minute remaining. The 22-year-old appeared in 10 games during his final year at Syracuse and racked up 54 tackles (43 solo), a sack and an interception.
