On track for Week 1 Coach Urban Meyer said Tuesday that Jones (shoulder) is expected to be healthy for the Sept. 12 season opener at Houston, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The 31-year-old has been dealing with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder over the past week, but there's never been much doubt about his availability for Week 1. DJ Chark (finger) and Tavon Austin (quadriceps) are also expected to be good to go against the Texans. Jones, Chark and Laviska Shenault are poised to operate as Jacksonville's top three pass catchers with rookie Trevor Lawrence helming the offense.

Expected to play Week 1 Coach Urban Meyer said Tuesday that Austin (quad) should be good to go for the Sept. 12 season opener, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Austin injured his quadriceps during Friday's practice, but it does not appear to be too serious. The Jaguars only kept five wideouts on their initial 53-man roster, so it is likely that Austin will play a prominent role in the offense. The 31-year-old speedster spent time with the 49ers and Packers last season, and only appeared in four games, catching five passes for 20 yards.

Impact Meyer also said wideouts Marvin Jones (shoulder) Tavon Austin (quadriceps) will be available for Week 1. Chark underwent surgery early August to address a hairline fracture in his finger, which forced him to miss the entire preseason, but he'll be available to head the Jaguars' revamped receiving corps with quarterback Trevor Lawrence under center when the regular season kicks off.
