Impact Meyers has emerged as the favorite target for struggling quarterback Cam Newton with Julian Edelman (knee) and N'Keal Harry (concussion) both unavailable, leading the team in targets, catches and receiving yards. None of Meyers' gains went for more than 16 yards, but he caught a key two-point conversion to tie the score in the third quarter. Meyers should continue to play a prominent role on his 24th birthday against the porous Jets secondary in Week 9.

Extended snaps await Week 8 Meyers is expected to pick up extra snaps Sunday against the Bills with Julian Edelman (knee) set to miss the contest, Dave Green of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Impact The Patriots' No. 4 receiver heading into last week's game against the 49ers, Meyers was thrust into a larger role after starter N'Keal Harry left the contest early with a concussion. Meyers proceeded to play 79 percent of the offensive snaps in the 33-6 loss, finishing the day with four receptions for 60 yards on six targets. With Edelman being ruled out, Meyers should hold down a regular spot in three-wide sets for the second straight game, and the North Carolina State product could have an even clearer path to steady targets if Harry -- who has missed the Patriots' first two practices of Week 8 -- is also sidelined. Along with Meyers, Damiere Byrd and Gunner Olszewski should take on expanded roles in New England's passing attack.

Impact Meyers hadn't seen action in over a month coming in, but he found a way to lead the team in all major receiving categories despite Cam Newton finishing with under 100 passing yards on the day. Newton was ultimately benched in favor of Jarrett Stidham after his third turnover, and Meyers managed to snare a pass from him as well. Given the team's struggles under center and Meyers' inactivity for much of the season, he won't take a great deal of fantasy appeal into next Sunday's meeting with the Bills.
