INJURIES

Making progress, runs routes Robinson (Achilles) ran routes during a drill at Monday's practice, James Johnson of Jaguars Wire reports.
Impact The Jaguars are easing the third-year pro into action after last year's Achilles tear. Coach Doug Pederson suggested Robinson could be at full strength by mid-August, which sounds optimistic but not necessarily impossible. His rehab thus far seems to have gone as well as anyone could've hoped, but fellow running back Travis Etienne has been one of the stars of training camp after missing his rookie year with a Lisfranc injury. There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding Robinson despite his strong work through two pro seasons.

Avoids PUP list to start camp Robinson (Achilles) will not begin training camp on the PUP list, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
Impact Coach Doug Pederson said Robinson's ability to avoid the PUP list to open camp "says a lot." Still, Pederson said the plan remains to "be cautious with [Robinson] and make sure he's ready when he's ready," an indication that the team won't rush the running back in his recovery. With 2021 first-round pick Travis Etienne in the fold and eager to make an impression on the NFL field, the Jaguars have the luxury of being able to take a cautious approach toward Robinson's recovery from a torn Achilles that he suffered in late December. It remains to be seen when Robinson will receive clearance to resume practicing in full, but all signs indicate his recovery process has been positive thus far. Sidestepping the PUP list to begin training camp offers reason for encouragement about Robinson's chances of being available Week 1, or at least much earlier than expected.
JULY 25, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Likely not ready for training camp Robinson (Achilles) remains in his recovery mode and isn't expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July, John Reid of the Florida Times-Union reports.
Impact The 23-year-old began running in his rehab program in mid-June, but it's unclear what kind of progress he's made over the past week. Robinson likely won't be ready for the start of training camp in a month, but he'll still have six more weeks to get healthy before Jacksonville's season opener Sept. 11. Even if he's cleared for Week 1, Robinson could have a limited workload early in the season. Regardless, Travis Etienne is likely to begin the season as the Jaguars' No. 1 tailback.

Resumes jogging on field Robinson (Achilles) resumed running as part of his rehab process Friday, his representation Steinberg Sports reports.
Impact Coach Doug Pederson has already said that Robinson won't participate in OTAs or resume actually practicing until training camp, but it's notable to see that the running back has already been given clearance to start jogging. Robinson is working his way back from a torn left Achilles tendon suffered late December, which makes him uncertain for Week 1; however, so far it appears as though his recovery has remained fully on schedule. Meanwhile, 2021 first-round pick Travis Etienne is participating in OTAs without restrictions after having missed his rookie campaign due to a Lisfranc injury.

Time to heal: Jaguars still recovering from Urban Meyer era

The Jacksonville Jaguars are still “healing” from one of the most tumultuous coaching tenures in NFL history
MAY 23, 2022 • Associated Press
Out until training camp Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Robinson (Achilles) won't participate in OTAs, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Impact Meanwhile, Pederson noted that Travis Etienne (foot), the other Jacksonville running back recovering from a long-term injury, is on track to rejoin the team for workouts early during the offseason program. Robinson's recovery from the torn left Achilles' tendon he suffered in late December looks as though it'll extend into training camp in late July, and it's far from a given that he'll be a full participant in practices by then. The track record of players returning from Achilles surgery isn't overly encouraging, and the fact that Robinson suffered his injury late last season and faces strong competition from Etienne -- a 2021 first-round pick -- renders Robinson a risky fantasy investment heading into 2022.

Timetable for return TBD Robinson's return timeline from an Achilles injury remains unclear at this stage, but Michael DiRocco of ESPN suggests it's possible the running back could be ready for the start o...
Impact Robinson suffered a torn Achilles back on Dec. 26 and faces a lengthy recovery period, so it's not a lock that he'll be a go for Week 1. The recent return of Rams RB Cam Akers from a similar injury does offer hope that Robinson could factor in early on next season, however. Once he is back, the 23-year-old will face competition from 2021 first-rounder Travis Etienne, who is bouncing back from a Lisfranc injury that he suffered this past August, while veteran Carlos Hyde is also under contract with the Jaguars through the 2022 campaign, and there's always the possibility further depth is brought in via free agency or the draft. Robinson's progress should become clearer once the team resumes its on-field activities. Prior to his injury, he recorded 767 yards and eight TDs on 164 carries and added 31 catches for 222 yards in 14 games.

NFL Week 17 injury report: What to expect from Jimmy Garoppolo, Shaq Barrett, more
Lands on IR Robinson (Achilles) has been placed on IR by the Jaguars.
Impact Robinson suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday's loss to the Jets and the non-contact injury has officially ended his 2021 season. In his absence down the stretch, Dare Ogunbowale, who handled the bulk of the carries following Robinson's Sunday exit -- as well as Nathan Cottrell and Ryquell Armstead -- are in line to head Jacksonville's backfield.

Impact The non-contact injury Robinson suffered Sunday indeed is a season-ending one, and he'll presumably face a lengthy recovery period. In his absence down the stretch, the Jaguars' available running back options are Dare Ogunbowale, who handled the bulk of the carries following Robinson's Sunday departure, along with Nathan Cottrell and Ryquell Armstead.
DECEMBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Partial Achilles tear, per report Robinson reportedly suffered a partial tear of his left Achilles during Sunday's game against the Jets, Michael DiRocco of ESPN reports.
Impact We'll await further confirmation of the severity of his Achilles issue, but with just two weeks left in the Jaguars' schedule, Robinson's non-contact injury could well end his campaign. Looking ahead, the team's available running back options are Dare Ogunbowale, who logged the bulk of the carries following Robinson's Sunday exit, as well as Nathan Cottrell and Ryquell Armstead.

Injures Achilles Robinson was forced out of Sunday's game against the Jets with an Achilles injury, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact Per Field Yates of ESPN, the running back grabbed his ankle area following a non-contact injury and now it appears as though Robinson's Achilles is the issue. Prior to being carted off, as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports, Robinson logged three carries for 10 yards. Next up for the team's backfield duties in his absence is Dare Ogunbowale.

Avoids injury designation Robinson (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Impact Robinson rested at Thursday's practice before returning as a full participant Friday, so he's ready to go for Week 16. The 23-year-old tied his season high with 21 touches last week and totaled 88 scrimmage yards to go along with a touchdown.

Logs Thursday DNP Robinson (knee) didn't practice Thursday.
Impact Robinson was limited Wednesday, but Mark Long of the Associated Press previously noted that Thursday 'DNPs' were likely to be a regular part of a load management plan for the running back. Therefore, there's a solid chance Robinson practices fully Friday and approaches Sunday's game against the Jets minus a Week 16 injury designation.
DECEMBER 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limited at Wednesday's practice Robinson (knee) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.
Impact Robinson was once again a limited practice participant to begin the week as he continues to manage the knee injury down the stretch. If the trend from recent weeks holds, the 23-year-old will rest at Thursday's practice before returning as a full participant for Friday's session.

Finds end zone in loss Robinson rushed 18 times for 75 yards and a touchdown while catching three of six targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Texans.
Impact Robinson tied his season high with 21 touches and bounced back after totaling a mere 39 yards from scrimmage over the previous two contests. The 23-year-old should continue to see heavy usage going forward, especially with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell now leading the team following the firing of former head coach Urban Meyer. Robinson will have another attractive matchup in Week 16 as the Jaguars travel to take on the Jets.

No injury designation for Sunday Robinson (heel/knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Impact Robinson took a rest day Thursday and return to practice Friday with a full session, clearing him to play Sunday versus Houston. The 23-year-old will have even less competition than usual for backfield reps with Carlos Hyde (concussion) already ruled out for the divisional contest.
