Still dealing with leg injury Washington had a wrap with ice on his lower right leg Saturday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Washington has been bothered by the minor injury since at least last weekend, missing practice time shortly after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the wideout had requested a trade. It makes sense given his standing as the No. 4 receiver in a contract year, but head coach Mike Tomlin and OC Matt Canada both downplayed the report and said Washington is an important part of the team/offense. It sounds like Washington should return to practice soon, considering he stretched and ran sprints Saturday afternoon.

Impact At this stage, Washington presumably slots in behind Diontae Johnson, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool in the Steelers' wideout pecking order, but the 2018 second-rounder still has "a good role" with the team, according to offensive coordinator Matt Canada. "We're really talented in that room right now," Canada said of the Steelers' current WR corps. "Certain games are different matchups. Certain things happen. But James is a big part of what we do and he'll continue to have a role with us." Washington logged 30 catches (on 56 targets) for 392 yards and five TDs in 16 games with Pittsburgh last season.

Washington brought in 30 of his 56 targets for 392 yards and a career-high five touchdowns during the regular season. Impact Pittsburgh's offense struggled for the majority of this contest, and starter Diontae Johnson suffered another case of the drops, leading to a benching and another opportunity for Washington to get more playing time and his second consecutive game with a touchdown. The 24-year-old entered the contest fourth on the depth chart, but his six targets were right in range with the Steelers' other three key wideouts. Perhaps it is time for fantasy managers in deeper leagues to start noticing Washington if he continues to see his role increase down the stretch at the expense of his underperforming teammates. It will be interesting to see how the targets shake out when the Bengals come to town Monday.
