Impact Bentley exited last week's game against the Bills with a groin injury, and he's been limited through the first two practices this week. He has one more practice Saturday to upgrade to full participation, otherwise, he'll carry an injury tag into Monday's divisional tilt against the Jets. Cassh Maluia is expected to start at inside linebacker if Bentley can't go.

Managing groin issue Bentley exited Sunday's loss to the Bills due to a groin injury.

Impact Bentley totaled five tackles and a sack before exiting during the second half. The 24-year-old was considered questionable to return, and the game ended about 10 minutes after the injury was announced.

Impact Bently was named the Patriots' starting inside linebacker during training camp, and he got off to a modest start to 2020, recording at least four tackles but no more than six stops in each of the first four games. The third-year pro exploded Sunday, though, leading the team in tackles and reaching a new career high in the process. He had plenty of opportunities since the Broncos' running backs carried 32 times, so this performance could be tough to replicate in a different game script.

Most notably, he'll be tasked with replacing Hightower as the Patriots' defensive play-caller. Bentley, who turns 24 later this month, logged 44 tackles in his second season with New England in 2019, but the 2018 fifth-rounder is bound to see a spike in production in his expanded role and could emerge as a reliable IDP.
