Set to start season finale Flacco will start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Dolphins with Mike White (ribs) having been ruled out, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.

Impact Even though head coach Robert Saleh said earlier in the week that White would make his second consecutive start, the Jets ultimately decided to hold White out for a meaningless season finale while he continues to deal with four fractured ribs. Rather than turning the offense over to embattled second-year quarterback Zach Wilson, the Jets will hand the assignment to Flacco, who previously started the Jets' first three games of the season. Meanwhile, Wilson will be active as Flacco's backup. The 37-year-old Flacco directed a pass-happy New York offense in the first three weeks, averaging 300.3 passing yards in those contests with a total of five touchdowns against three interceptions.

Will back up Mike White on Sunday Head coach Robert Saleh said Monday that Flacco will be the primary backup behind Mike White (ribs) for Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.

Impact White was cleared for contract earlier Monday and is expected to reclaim the starting job in Week 17, so Saleh will have Flacco operate as the backup, sending Zach Wilson to the inactive list again. Flacco operated as the starter to begin the season, completing 58.7 percent of his passes for 901 yards and five touchdowns across three games, but he's been relegated to backup duties since.

If that's the case, Wilson will serve as White's backup after being a healthy scratch the past three weeks, which will likely result in Flacco being inactive for Sunday's contest.
