Impact After playing every snap in three straight games, Thomas logged just 46 of 68 defensive snaps (68 percent) in Sunday's win. It's an interesting development, but no Cowboys linebacker received a major boost in snap share as a result, so this could've just been the Cowboys' plan when the game went into a shootout. Impact With Leighton Vander Esch (collarbone) on IR, Thomas got the start alongside Jaylon Smith at linebacker and posted a very Vander Esch-like tackle total. The last time Thomas had a significant starting role, he posted 70 tackles and an INT over 16 games for the Packers in 2016, including his only other two double-digit tackle performances, so the 29-year-old may well be able to keep up this level of production for at least a few weeks.

Impact Thomas stepped in after Vander Esch suffered the broken collarbone in the season opener and totaled five tackles on 50 defensive snaps. The Cowboys could opt to shift Jaylon Smith from weakside linebacker to the middle in place of Vander Esch, but Thomas is the likely replacement for snaps, regardless of the specific position he plays.
