Limited to start week Wilkins (calf) was limited in practice Wednesday.

Impact Wilkins was limited to one carry last week with the Colts playing from behind after three consecutive games with nine carries, but his workload projects to swing back up Sunday against the Bengals. The backup running back's new injury is a cause for concern, but those concerns can be alleviated if Wilkins is able to upgrade to a full practice as the week progresses.

Role dries up Week 5 Wilkins carried once for one yard Sunday in the Colts' 32-23 loss to the Browns.

Impact Cleveland seized the lead with just under six minutes remaining in the second quarter and stayed ahead the rest of the way, resulting in the Colts largely abandoning the run game. Wilkins was a natural casualty of the game script, as he played just two snaps, his fewest since the Colts' lone other loss of the season Week 1 against the Jaguars. He should have a bigger role Week 6 if the Colts can roll to an early lead against the underdog Bengals.

Gets nine carries Sunday Wilkins had nine carries for 15 yards and one reception for 16 yards on his only target in Sunday's win over Chicago.

Impact Wilkins played on 12 of the offense's 72 snaps while Nyheim Hines played on 25 snaps (and had nine carries and three receptions). Wilkins continues to get steady work behind starter Jonathan Taylor when the offense is focused on running the ball, as the Colts were most of Sunday's 19-11 win, with Hines used more in the passing game. Taylor remains the primary running back though the workload (Taylor had 17 carries and played 33 snaps) was likely more balanced than usual Sunday.

Nine carries Sunday Wilkins had nine carries for 39 yards and one reception for six yards on his lone target in Sunday's 36-7 win over the Jets.

Impact Last week, Wilkins didn't get most of his carries until later in the game when it became a blowout, but this week he was used as early as the second quarter. He played 16 snaps on offense while Nyheim Hines played 20 snaps. Wilkins is still likely the third option in the running game and likely to get more snaps than Hines when the Colts have a large lead. However, Jonathan Taylor remains the clear first option.

Impact Wilkins played 17 snaps on offense compared to nine snaps for Nyheim Hines in backup duty behind Jonathan Taylor (49 snaps). Wilkins got most of his carries late in the game when it became a blowout, so he's still likely the third running back with Nyheim Hines likely ahead of him and more likely to get work on passing downs. Either way, Sunday's game showed that Taylor is likely to get the majority of touches in the backfield.

Climbs up depth chart Wilkins is lined up as the No. 3 RB following news that Marlon Mack suffered a torn Achilles, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact Wilkins has a decent track record with 643 yards and three touchdowns on 111 carries over his first two years in the league, but when Mack went down Sunday against the Jaguars, Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Taylor carried a bulk of the workload. Wilkins saw just one offensive snap. That could change in Week 2 against Minnesota with a full week of preparation, but Hines and Taylor were both impressive and will likely still handle most of the touches.

Impact Wilkins got back out on the field after missing all practices earlier this week. The third-year running back finds himself towards the bottom of the totem pole in the running backs room, as he competes with the likes of Marlon Mack, Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines for valuable reps throughout training camp.

Impact The 2018 fifth-round pick eclipsed 300 rushing yards in each of his first two seasons as Indianapolis' secondary early-down back behind Marlon Mack, but the addition of second-round pick Jonathan Taylor significantly dampens his outlook for 2020. While it's not clear if he has suffered an injury, missing practice time won't help Wilkins get a larger role in the offense.
