Impact Johnson had one of the standout plays of the game with a 16-yard touchdown reception, catching a perfect pass from quarterback Derek Carr before making a toe-tapping grab in the right corner of the end zone. The 6-foot-4 pass catcher actually wound up with fewer targets and receptions than fellow tight end Foster Moreau, who caught all four of his targets for 43 yards and a touchdown before exiting with a head injury. Johnson totaled 34 more targets despite playing two fewer games than Moreau last season, and the former was assumed to be the TE1 heading into the season opener. The latter's status is also now up in the air for next Sunday's road game versus Dallas. Yet, when Moreau is healthy, it will be worth monitoring how he and Johnson are deployed -- along with Taysom Hill -- under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Impact Johnson did not see extensive playing time Sunday, as he was one of the surefire starters that suited up for the Saints. Johnson caught 37 of 59 targets for 368 yards across 13 regular-season appearances last year. He'll look to hit the ground running Week 1 against the Panthers.

Impact Johnson failed to log a reception for the first time this season. The 27-year-old also made a pivotal mistake on the Saints' first offensive play of the game when he failed to secure a short pass while running across the middle of the field. This resulted in the ball popping up in the air and allowed Lions safety Brian Branch to make a diving interception.
