Impact Toney, who ended his rookie season dealing with a shoulder injury, isn't yet participating in team activities this offseason. Of course, it's only April, and there's still plenty of time for the 2021 first-round pick to get in some on-field work before Week 1, but his decision to abstain from early voluntary activities is notable. Perhaps most significantly, as Daboll notes, is the fact that Toney has yet to receive a copy of the new offensive playbook.

Impact Toney had just about every ailment imaginable as a rookie with hamstring, ankle, thumb, quad, oblique and shoulder injuries as well as two stints on the COVID-19 list. But on the rare occasion he was healthy, he was electric, breaking tackles and showing rare quickness and burst. His Week 5 game against the Cowboys (13-10-189-0) showed his upside if the Giants ever get competent QB play, and Toney himself stays on the field.

Impact Toney showed flashes of brilliance but mostly spent his rookie campaign playing through or rehabbing injuries, primarily to his lower body until the recent shoulder issue cost him the final two weeks. Toney finishes with a 39-420-0 receiving line on 57 targets in 10 games, with the highlight being his 10-catch, 189-yard performance in a Week 5 loss at Dallas. That came on the heels of a 78-yard game the week before, but Toney never cleared even 50 yards again, making only five more appearances (Weeks 6, 8-9, 11, 16) after the memorable Week 5 outing. While he may stand a chance to escape the injury-plagued season without surgery, Toney faces an uncertain future in terms of QB play and coaching. Granted, he might be in 'any change is good change' territory, given that the Giants have fielded a bottom five passing offense by nearly any measure this year.
