Impact Fairbairn's miss was wide right from 53 yards, but the kicker was successful on a boot from 52 yards, his third make in five tries from beyond the 50. The Texans are on the road Week 14 against a Bears defense that ranks 13th in scoring (23.7 PPG).

Impact Fairbairn's extra-point miss was his second of the season. He went wide left after Houston's first score of the day, but the failure did not come back to bite the Texans, who scored on six of their 12 possessions and had a defensive touchdown. Fairbairn, who has recorded nine points in three of the past four games, is tied for 22nd in kicker scoring with 7.27 points per game.

Impact Fairbairn's first missed extra point of the season turned out to be costly. Had he made the kick, Texans head coach Romeo Crennel would not have felt the need to go for a two-point conversion later (it failed). The kicker's six-point effort snapped a two-game run in which he posted double-digit points and converted all six field-goal tries. The difference against Tennessee was the Texans ability to finish drives. They scored touchdowns on all four of their red zone looks, reversing a trend that had them settling for field goals on four of five red-area appearances the previous two weeks. Fairbairn currently ranks 20th in scoring among kickers with 7.3 points per game.

Impact Houston's offense moved the ball more consistently in Week 5, reaping the benefits of an effective running game, which enabled Fairbairn to post a season-high 12 points. He's scored 23 points over the last two weeks, and Sunday's game was third in five contests that he's converted at least three field goals.

Impact Fairbairn was the beneficiary of Houston's failure to finish in the red-zone (zero TDs in three trips), although he got a chance to show off his leg with a boot from 50 yards out. His 11 points were a season high and was the second time he's finished in double digits. The four-year kicker has been inconsistent through four weeks -- 2, 10, 3, 11 points -- which befits the NFL's 28th-ranked scoring offense (20.0 ppg).

Impact Fairbairn rebounded from a disappointing two-point effort Week 1. The Texans' offense made only two forays into the red zone, so they needed Fairbairn's leg more than they would like, including boots of 44 and 45 yards. Houston's offense hasn't been in sync the first two games, which could make for inconsistency from Fairbairn. Perhaps it's due to the new weapons or a new play-caller, offensive coordinator Tim Kelly. Houston looks to solve it's issues Week 3 on the road against Pittsburgh.

Misses lone FGA Fairbairn missed his only field-goal attempt and made 2-of-2 extra-point kicks in Thursday's 34-20 loss to the Chiefs.

Impact Fairbairn pushed a 51-yard attempt late in the second quarter. It was by no means a chip shot, but it served as a momentum shift. After the miss, the Chiefs moved into position to kick a field goal as time ran out in the first half and extended their lead to 17-7. As Kansas City piled on points, the Texans attempted a two-point conversion after one of their touchdowns, and Fairbairn was limited to two points on an evening in which Houston's offense converted touchdowns on all three of its red-zone appearances.
