Impact Cleveland scheduled a traditional practice Thursday after holding more of a walk-through workout Wednesday, so Hunt likely was more active for the former session, even though he was listed as limited for the second day in a row. Unless he puts in a full practice Friday, Hunt's status for Sunday's game against the Bengals will be difficult to pin down. The Browns are already eliminated from playoff contention and have little else at stake in the regular-season finale, so the team could choose to hold Hunt out or limit his workload even if he's cleared to play for the first time since Week 14.

Impact Hunt's limited showing marked his first practice activity of any kind since he injured his ankle Dec. 12 in the Browns' Week 14 win over the Ravens. The running back's rehab program for the injury was interrupted by a recent stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but he's fully recovered from the virus and is now focusing on proving to the Browns' coaching and training staffs that his ankle is healthy. However, because he's been sidelined for the last two games and has appeared in only two contests over the last 10 weeks, Hunt may need to turn in a full practice Saturday to lock in his availability for Monday's showdown with Pittsburgh.

Even with a longer turnaround for Week 17, Hunt still isn't ready to resume practicing, which isn't the greatest sign for his availability Monday in Pittsburgh. That being said, head coach Kevin Stefanski said he isn't ruling Hunt out from playing against the Steelers, according to Dan Labbe of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. That said, the running back would surely need to practice in some fashion Friday and/or Saturday to make that a reality.

He's missed two games since then, and his activity (or lack thereof) in practice will be key to determining whether he'll be able to return to action Monday in Pittsburgh. Tuesday's session isn't official, so the Browns may not get a sense of Hunt's potential to play until Thursday, when they'll turn in their first Week 17 injury report. If Hunt requires further time away from the field, D'Ernest Johnson will remain the change-of-pace option behind Cleveland's top running back Nick Chubb.
