Signed to active roster The Cardinals signed Slovis to the active roster from their practice squad Saturday, Zach Gershman of the team's official site reports.

Impact Slovis will provide extra depth at quarterback, as Kyer Murray (foot) is considered to be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup against the Colts. If Murray doesn't play, Slovis would serve as the team's backup behind Jacoby Brissett.

Impact Slovis wasn't able to crack the Texans' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he'll get a new opportunity with the Cardinals on the practice squad. The BYU product would be in line to be elevated to the active roster if Kyler Murray or Jacoby Brissett were to miss time.

Sticking around in Houston The Texans signed Slovis to a reserve/future contract Wednesday.

Impact Slovis was unable to make the Colts' 53-man roster at the end of training camp after signing in late April as an undrafted free agent out of BYU. He signed with the Texans' practice squad Aug. 29, though he was not elevated to the active roster during the regular season or playoffs. Slovis will be part of Houston's 90-man roster when the new league year starts March 12, and the 23-year-old will have the opportunity to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp.

Impact Slovis signed with the Colts in April as an undrafted free agent out of BYU. He was competing against Sam Ehlinger for the emergency quarterback job behind Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco, and Slovis finished the preseason completing 16 of 22 pass attempts for 149 yards across three outings. Slovis will look to catch on with another team should he clear waivers.
