Dealing with ankle injury
Hudson (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact
Hudson popped up on the Browns' injury report as a limited participant in Friday's practice, and he's now in jeopardy of missing the team's Week 9 contest. The 26-year-old linebacker has recorded five total tackles across seven appearances with the Browns this season, playing almost strictly on special teams (135 of 138 total snaps on special teams). If Hudson can't play through his ankle issue Sunday, Nathaniel Watson could see additional time as one of Cleveland's top rotational linebackers.

Just misses final cut
Hudson was released by the Saints on Tuesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Impact
Hudson jumped to New Orleans this spring after a four-year stint in Washington that saw him have the best season of his career in 2023. However, the Michigan product was unable to carry over that momentum into a 53-man roster spot.

Returns to practice Tuesday

Impact
Hudson was held out of Monday's practice with an unspecified injury, but he was back on the field participating in team drills one day later. He registered four tackles in Saturday's preseason opener against the Cardinals, and the 2020 fifth-rounder will look to build off that performance against the 49ers on Sunday.

Absent from practice
Hudson (undisclosed) was unavailable for the Saints' practice Sunday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Impact
Hudson finished with four total tackles in Saturday's 16-14 victory over the Cardinals in the team's preseason opener. He appears to have left the contest a little dinged up and he'll attempt to get back out on the practice field prior to next Sunday's matchup with San Francisco.

Staying in Washington
The Commanders signed Hudson to a one-year deal Sunday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
Impact
Hudson will stick with the Commanders for his fourth season after being selected by the team in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The 6-foot linebacker was let go by the team ahead of the 2022 campaign, though he was ultimately re-signed after spending the first six weeks of the season on Washington's practice squad. Hudson still never worked his way above a core special-teamer role in 2022, as he has played almost exclusively in this phase during his time with the Commanders. Hudson has accumulated 34 tackles across 41 regular-season appearances in his career.

Practicing once again
Hudson spent time working with Washington's first-team defense during minicamp earlier this June, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Hudson missed the Commanders' final five games of 2021 while dealing with an ankle injury. Though the linebacker saw some first-team reps during minicamp, he's still expected to serve in a depth role after playing just 22 defensive snaps last season.

Designated to return from IR
Hudson (ankle) was designated to return from injured reserve Friday.
Impact
Hudson returned to practice Friday, beginning the 21-day window for him to be added to the active roster. Before his three-week absence, the 2020 fifth-round pick appeared in every game, operating mostly on special teams.

Activated from COVID-19 list
Hudson (ankle) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday,
Impact
Hudson was subsequently returned to injured reserve after being activated from the COVID-19 list, so he will still be unable to practice or play until Week 17 at the earliest. This still leaves Washington extremely thin at outside linebacker heading into Week 15's matchup against the Eagles, which has been rescheduled to Tuesday.

Sidelined by multiple issues
Hudson (ankle) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact
Hudson was already on injured reserve with an ankle injury, though he'll now face another hurdle before being able to retake the field. After serving on special teams for the majority of the season, Hudson will be sidelined until at least Week 17 for a matchup against Philadelphia.

Lands on IR
Washington placed Hudson (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Impact
Hudson suffered a sprained ankle during Sunday's win over the Raiders and will miss at least three weeks after being placed on IR. Washington is shorthanded at outside linebacker, with Jon Bostic (pectoral) and Jared Norris (shoulder) already on IR, so Milo Eifler may see increased snaps as the primary backup to Cole Holcomb and David Mayo.

Dealing with sprained ankle
Hudson (ankle) is expected to miss time due to a sprain, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
Impact
Hudson suffered a sprained ankle during Sunday's win over the Raiders, and it looks like he will miss a handful of weeks. That could make the second-year pro a candidate to land on IR. The Football Team is already shorthanded at outside linebacker, with Jon Bostic (pectoral) and Jared Norris (shoulder) on IR already.
