Likely to sit out Week 8 Mack isn't expected to play Sunday against the 49ers while tending to a lingering foot injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Impact Rapoport adds that a four-week stint on injured reserve (the Bears are on bye Week 10) is being considered for Mack, who has been a regular on the Bears' injury reports since late September with the foot issue. Despite playing at less than full health, Mack has produced 19 tackles and six sacks this season, though he had a five-game streak with at least one sack come to an end in last week's 38-3 loss to the Buccaneers. Supremely durable throughout his career, Mack has only missed two games, both of which came in 2018 while he battled an ankle injury. With Mack headed for an absence and Robert Quinn (reserve/COVID-19 list) and Akiem Hicks (groin) also iffy to play Week 8, the Bears could struggle to generate pressure.
