Tristan Vizcaino - Miss proves crucial in loss Vizcaino (illness) made three of his four field-goal attempts and did not attempt an extra point in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Vizcaino never attempted a kick longer than 46 yards, but the missed 44-yard field goal to essentially end the first half predictably came back to haunt the Chargers. The offense has been dynamic with quarterback Justin Herbert throwing 300-plus yards in back-to-back games, but struggles near the red zone have allowed Vizcaino to attempt six kicks through two games. It's hard to imagine that changing much in a likely high-octane matchup against the Chiefs in Week 3.

Asante Samuel Jr. - First career pick Samuel recorded four tackles (one solo) and an interception in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Samuel recorded his first career interception on a badly overthrown pass by Dak Prescott, returning it 26 yards to set up the Chargers in great scoring position. The rookie second-round pick has been a critical starter through two weeks, averaging close to 90 percent of the defensive snaps and has more than exceeded expectations to date.

Larry Rountree III - Poor outing in loss Rountree lost a combined two yards on his only target and carry in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact One week after recording eight carries for 27 yards, the rookie sixth-round pick took a backseat to Justin Jackson from a yardage perspective (29 total yards) and snaps (16 to 10 in favor of Jackson). The snap totals at least reflect a close competition for the backup role behind Austin Ekeler, but the extra usage of both Rountree and Jackson could essentially boil down to whether or not the Chargers are playing from behind.

Justin Jackson - Marginally more snaps in Week 2 Jackson carried the ball four times for 21 yards and also caught his lone target for eight yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Jackson still didn't see his first snaps until the second half, but at least the undrafted free agent out-snapped Larry Rountree albeit by a slim 16 to 10 margin. It appears as if Jackson is more trusted in come-from-behind situations, at least as a substitute for all-world pass catcher Austin Ekeler.
