INJURIES

Bound of San Francisco Farrell is slated to sign a three-year, $20.25 million contract with the 49ers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Farrell will bolster San Francisco's depth at tight end behind George Kittle. The Ohio State product made 12 catches on 17 targets for 67 yards last season, his fourth with the Jaguars.

One catch Week 18 Farrell caught his lone target for four yards Week 18 against the Colts and finished the season with 12 receptions for 67 yards in 17 games.
Impact Farrell once again was minimally involved in the passing game while playing 31 offensive snaps in the season finale. The 27-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent at the start of the offseason, with his four-year run in Jacksonville likely to conclude with him totaling 36 catches for 316 yards and no touchdowns in 66 games.
JANUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE
No targets in Week 8 Farrell played 31 of the Jaguars' 61 snaps on offense and didn't draw a target in Sunday's 32-16 win over the Patriots.
Impact After drawing either one or two targets from Weeks 2 through 5, Farrell has seen his already minimal role in the passing game disappear since top tight end Evan Engram returned from a hamstring injury Week 6. Farrell wasn't targeted in either of the past two contests, though he played double-digit snaps on both occasions thanks to his blocking skills.
OCTOBER 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Catches both targets Farrell secured both targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 37-34 win over Indianapolis.
Impact The 26-year-old once again served as Jacksonville's secondary tight end behind Brenton Strange as starter Evan Engram (hamstring) missed a fourth straight game. Farrell hasn't been fantasy relevant even with Engram sidelined and has five receptions for 31 yards through five games this season.
OCTOBER 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Secures both targets Farrell caught both his targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 18-13 loss to Cleveland.
Impact The 26-year-old had an increased role since starting tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) was a late scratch Sunday, but it was Brenton Strange who operated as Jacksonville's primary tight end with three catches for 65 yards and a 68 percent snap share. Farrell played 28 of 60 offensive snaps and is unlikely to be significantly involved in the passing game even if Engram misses more time.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Minor role Week 1 Farrell played 14 offensive snaps and didn't receive a target during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Dolphins.
Impact Evan Engram was the only Jaguars tight end to be involved in the passing game in the season opener. Farrell tallied career highs in catches (13) and receiving yards (155) last season, and he should continue to see occasional snaps as a blocking option.

Dealing with toe injury Farrell (toe) was limited in practice Thursday.
Impact Farrell likely picked up the injury in Sunday's win over the Texans, although news of him dealing with the injury wasn't previously reported. He'll have an extra day to recover with Jacksonville not playing until Monday, when they host the Bengals.

Fails to garner target Sunday Farrell went without a target while playing 29 of the Jaguars' 64 snaps on offense in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Colts.
Impact Farrell had recorded at least one reception in each of the Jaguars' previous three games, but quarterback Trevor Lawrence didn't look his way on any of the season-high seven routes he ran Sunday. The Jaguars will likely continue to deploy the third-year player out of Ohio State primarily as a blocker whenever he's on the field, as Evan Engram remains the team's top pass-catching tight end.

Limited largely to special teams Farrell played 10 of his 11 snaps on special teams in Sunday's 28-27 win over the Ravens.
Impact Jacksonville kept four tight ends active Week 12, but Farrell and Dan Arnold (three snaps on offense) ranked far behind starter Evan Engram (51 snaps) and top backup Chris Manhertz (20 snaps) in terms of usage. Even if an injury to Engram or Manhertz opens up more playing time at tight end, Arnold is a better bet than Farrell to contribute as a pass catcher.
NOVEMBER 29, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Sees snap count bump Farrell went without a target across his eight snaps on offense in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Texans.
Impact Farrell was one of four tight ends active for Jacksonville in Week 5, with his 11 percent snap share on offense matching Dan Arnold. Considering Arnold has played 47 snaps on offense to Farrell's 14, the former still looks to be the Jaguars' clear No. 3 tight end at the moment. Even so, Farrell should still continue to avoid the inactive lists most weeks thanks to his consistent role on special teams.
OCTOBER 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Zero targets in finale Farrell didn't receive a target during Sunday's 26-11 win over Indianapolis.
Impact Farrell started Sunday's contest alongside Chris Manhertz, but Jacob Hollister was the only Jacksonville tight end to be targeted in the passing game. Farrell finished his rookie campaign with seven receptions for 56 yards in 15 games, and he should enter 2022 competing for a depth role with Manhertz behind Dan Arnold (knee), who currently projects to be the team's No. 1 tight end.
JANUARY 11, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Works as No. 1 tight end Farrell caught one of two targets for seven yards during Sunday's 50-10 loss to the Patriots.
Impact Farrell received the start and played 72 percent of the offensive snaps with James O'Shaughnessy (hip) sidelined, though it didn't result in much involvement in the passing game. It was Farrell's first reception since Week 8, and he's unlikely to be a significant factor in the passing game in the season finale versus the Colts even if he sees a similar snap count.
JANUARY 3, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Back from COVID list Farrell (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
Impact Farrell tested positive for the virus Monday but is back on the active roster without missing a game. James O'Shaughnessy (hip) has been unable to practice this week while Chris Manhertz (illness) and Jacob Hollister (illness) remain in the health and safety protocols, so Farrell could be in line for an increased workload this weekend in New England.
DECEMBER 31, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on COVID list Farrell (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
Impact Farrell played one offensive snap Sunday against the Jets and is now on the COVID-19 list, though it's unclear if he tested positive for the virus. Chris Manhertz also entered the health and safety protocols, leaving James O'Shaughnessy and Jacob Hollister as the only healthy tight ends on the roster.
DECEMBER 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Healthy scratch Sunday Farrell (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Impact Farrell will be inactive for the second time this season with interim coach Darrell Bevell now leading the Jaguars. Jacob Hollister will instead serve as Jacksonville's No. 3 tight end behind James O'Shaughnessy and Chris Manhertz.

Starting role opens up Farrell should have an increased role for the Jaguars since James O'Shaughnessy (ankle) is out indefinitely, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Impact O'Shaughnessy suffered the injury early in Sunday's loss to the Broncos, and Farrell ended up catching one of two targets for six yards while playing 36 offensive snaps. The rookie fifth-round pick saw more playing time than blocking specialist Chris Manhertz, who also did not receive a target. Farrell is unlikely to be a significant piece of the offense but should continue to operate as one of Jacksonville's top two tight ends.
