Moves off PUP list The Jets activated Becton (knee) off the PUP list Tuesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Impact Knee injuries are bad news for guys who weigh upwards of 360 pounds, and Becton has been rehabbing ever since he tore his MCL back in Week 1 of 2021. Now that he's finally ready for practice, he'll compete with George Fant for the starting job at left tackle protecting Zach Wilson's blind side. Whoever comes up short in that competition should find themselves at right tackle to start the regular season.

Impact Becton will start training camp on the PUP list after Jets coach Robert Saleh indicated that he expected the offensive tackle to be ready for this stage of the offseason. However, the 23-year-old can be activated as soon as Day 1 of training camp, so there's still a chance he can practice before the start of the regular season. Becton has been sidelined since suffering a torn MCL in Week 1 of last year and will have to compete to reclaim his starting spot heading into the 2022 campaign.

Expected back for training camp Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that Becton (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.

Impact Becton started 13 games at left tackle as a rookie, but he suffered an MCL injury during Week 1 of the 2021 campaign and was ultimately sidelined for the entire season. George Fant replaced the No. 11 overall pick of the 2020 draft at left tackle and performed well enough to receive the chance to compete with Becton for the starting gig throughout the spring and summer. It's encouraging to hear Saleh say Becton is making good progress, but the Louisville product will have to do more than just go through the motions if he wants to reclaim his starting gig.
