Impact As a rookie, Mayer -- who the Raiders took in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft -- recorded a 27/304/2 receiving line (on 40 targets) in 14 regular-season games. Following his initial campaign as a pro, it looked like the Notre Dame product would be in a position to see a significant uptick in volume in Year 2, however when the Raiders selected fellow tight end Brock Bowers 13th overall this April, that scenario became far less likely. That said, while playing alongside Bowers hampers Mayer's weekly fantasy upside, he could still merit attention in TE-friendly formats, with Paul Gutierrez of ESPN noting that Las Vegas' Gardner Minshew-helmed offense figures to feature a lot of multiple tight end sets.

The rookie tight end was widely lauded as a sure-fire starter in the league, but he ended up splitting time frequently with Austin Hooper the entire campaign. The 22-year-old likely still projects as a clear-cut starter in future seasons, but it's certainly been a frustrating season for fantasy managers who expected Mayer to flash to the same extent as fellow rookies Sam LaPorta, Dalton Kincaid and Luke Musgrave.

Mayer will have one more chance to suit up Week 18 against the Broncos before the conclusion of his first NFL campaign.
