Impact Davis struggled to find much running room, and his struggles were exemplified by a one-yard loss on a 4th-and-inches rushing attempt in the second quarter. He also inexcusably put the ball on the ground as the Falcons were running out the clock before a game-winning field-goal attempt, but fortunately for Davis, Atlanta was able to keep the ball. With no more than 53 rushing yards in any game this season and just two scrimmage touchdowns while splitting backfield duties with Cordarrelle Patterson, Davis will be a low-end flex option against the Cowboys in Week 10.

Impact After Davis recorded single-digit rushes for just the second time all season last Sunday in Miami, the veteran running back was expected to bounce back Week 8. While he did see an increase in touches, his production still was limited due to Cordarelle Patterson's usage (14 touches for 72 total yards and one TD). Davis likely will continue to split snaps with Patterson, but it appears that the latter will be the more effective fantasy option moving forward.

Impact Smith seems to be suggesting that a bunch of Atlanta's rushes were audibles from called pass plays, which favored Patterson (14 carries, five targets) being in the backfield rather than Davis. There was also a point in the game where Davis appeared to limp off the field, but he returned shortly thereafter and isn't listed on Atlanta's Wednesday injury report. Davis did play 60 percent of offensive snaps last week, so even with four carries and no targets, it's not like he was banished from the offense. Of course, Patterson has been far more productive this year, and his share of the workload seems to grow with each passing week. That all makes Davis a shaky fantasy play for Week 8 against Carolina, though a return to his pre-Week-7 workload wouldn't be shocking.

Impact Per Mike Clay of ESPN.com, Davis played on approximately 60.0 percent of the Falcons' snaps yet had just the four touches, while backfield mate Cordarrelle Patterson recorded 14 rush attempts and saw five targets. Davis had carried at least 12 times in four of Atlanta's first five games while seeing double-digit targets in each, so Sunday's downturn can, for now, be classified as an outlier. The veteran back will hope to get back to a much more normal workload against the Panthers at home in Week 8.

Reaches end zone again Davis recorded 13 rushes for 53 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Jets. He added two receptions for eight yards.

Impact Davis was overshadowed by Cordarrelle Patterson for large stretches of the game, and Davis ended up seeing one fewer carry and six fewer touches overall compared to Patterson. Davis also had to come overcome a lost fumble that occurred late in the third quarter, though the team showed little hesitation turning to him in subsequent possessions. He did the majority of his damage on the ground on a 17-yard rush midway through the third quarter and on a three-yard touchdown plunge that ultimately clinched a win for Atlanta. Davis continues to cede work to Patterson, but he has surpassed 60 total yards in four of five games this season and has found the end zone in consecutive contests. He and the Falcons will head into a Week 6 bye and will return for a Week 7 matchup against Miami.
