Chris Streveler threw two touchdowns after replacing White but remains well behind White in New York's quarterback pecking order. Joe Flacco -- who didn't play Friday -- is expected to get the first crack at regular season playing time if Wilson isn't ready to return by Week 1, but White likely would be kept around as the backup in such a scenario. If Wilson is able to dress for the Sept. 11 season opener, Jets brass would have to decide between keeping three quarterbacks, trading White or attempting to put him on the practice squad.

Impact Per Cimini, White is slated to earn $2.54 million this coming season. The 26-year-old made four appearances (three starts) for the Jets in 2021, completing 88 of 132 passes for 953 yards, to go along with five touchdowns and eight interceptions. Now that he's back in the fold, White will compete with veteran Joe Flacco for the No. 2 signal-caller job behind Zach Wilson.

Impact White had never gotten into a regular-season game before the 2021 season, but the 26-year-old quarterback took the league by storm in his first NFL start, throwing for 405 yards and three touchdowns in a Week 8 upset win over the Bengals. Unfortunately for White, he was unable to replicate that success in any of his other outings, quickly putting an end to the brief quarterback controversy for the Jets. Zach Wilson is the clear quarterback of the future for the franchise after being selected second overall in the 2021 NFL Entry Draft, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Jets bring back White -- who is a restricted free agent -- to serve as Wilson's backup again next season.
