Impact Shaheed made a brief appearance at the media-access portion of Thursday's session, but it was enough for him to go down as limited after opening Week 6 prep with a DNP. He told Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on Thursday that his hip injury is "minor," and he expects to suit up Sunday against the Buccaneers. Nonetheless, Shaheed may enter the weekend with a game designation, something that will be revealed, one way or another, on Friday's practice report.

Head coach Dennis Allen declined to specify why Rattler has been chosen over Haener, but the 2023 fourth-round pick will remain in command of a backup role versus Tampa Bay.

Impact Gay was forced to miss the team's 26-13 loss to Kansas City in Week 5 due to a hand injury and he is still nursing it to open the week. The linebacker will have two more chances to practice in a full capacity before Sunday's matchup with the Buccaneers. If Gay is forced to sit again, Anfernee Orji would likely draw another start at strongside linebacker.

As of Wednesday, he's been uncapped in three straight sessions, but the team still has two weeks to make a decision to activate him from injured reserve, which will need to happen by Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET in order for him to have a chance for his season debut Sunday versus the Buccaneers.

Impact Werner missed New Orleans' Week 5 loss to the Chiefs after sustaining a hamstring injury during Saints' practice. Wednesday's DNP likely indicates that Werner isn't close to returning, and he'll probably need to upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday or Friday in order to suit up for the Saints' Week 6 matchup against the Buccaneers.
