Sterling Shepard - Won't play Week 9 Shepard (quadriceps) is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Impact Shepard wasn't able to practice in any fashion this week after straining his left quad in Monday's loss to the Chiefs, so he'll be be inactive for a fourth time this season during the Week 9 contest. Among the six receivers currently on the 53-man roster, only Kadarius Toney, Darius Slayton and Collin Johnson will enter the weekend without designations, as Kenny Golladay (knee) and John Ross (quadriceps) are listed as questionable. With a bye on tap Week 10, Shepard will hope to return to the lineup for a Nov. 22 game in Tampa Bay in Week 11.

Kaden Smith - Expects to play Sunday Smith (knee) was limited in practice Friday but expects to play Sunday against the Raiders, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Impact Smith has been dealing with an aggravated knee injury since before Week 7. While the tight end was limited in practice Thursday and Friday, the 24-year-old is expected to play Sunday against the Raiders. With Kyle Rudolph and Evan Engram both healthy and above Smith on the depth chart, it's likely that Smith will fill a depth role at tight end.

Impact Golladay is looking to put an end to a three-game absence due to a hyperextended right knee, but his availability is far from locked in at this point. After he was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report, Golladay returned to the field as a limited participant Thursday and Friday. Ideally, the Giants would have wanted to see Golladay practice fully before clearing him to play, but the team could give him the green light to suit up if he checks out fine following a warmup early Sunday. Quarterback Daniel Jones will be without two of his other top pass-catching options Week 9 in Saquon Barkley (ankle) and Sterling Shepard (quadriceps), so Golladay could be in store for a steady dose of targets if he's not out or limited due the knee injury come Sunday.

Saquon Barkley - Will miss another game The Giants have ruled Barkley (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Though Barkley was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday after the Giants determined a past test result for the virus was a false positive, he wasn't able to make enough progress in his recovery from a sprained left ankle to put an end to a three-game absence this weekend. Barkley noted prior to the Giants' Week 8 loss to the Chiefs that he experienced some renewed soreness and swelling in the ankle, but with the benefit of a Week 10 bye, the team is likely hoping that the star running back can make it back on the field for a Nov. 22 game in Tampa Bay in Week 11. The Giants will turn to Devontae Booker to handle a lead role out of the backfield once again this weekend versus Las Vegas.
