Impact He was promoted from the practice squad for the team's opener and although Folk missed his lone field-goal attempt, a 45-yarder, in Week 1's win over the Dolphins, the team is satisfied with the veteran kicker and will retain him on the active roster. Rookie fifth-rounder Justin Rohrwasser is still on the practice squad in case Folk slips up, but moving forward, Folk will be the Patriots' kicker.

Impact Coach Bill Belichick seems to have made a decision in regard to his starting kicker. Folk was in contention with Justin Rohrwasser for the starting job during the summer, only for both of them to be cut following the 53-man roster deadline last weekend. It's possible the Patriots could continue to use the additional two roster spaces this year to continually juggle the position week in and week out, but at least for Week 1, it's Folk's job to lose.

Impact Folk finished last year with New England, making 14 of 17 field goals and all 12 of his extra points in seven games following long-time kicker Stephen Gostkowski's season-ending hip injury. With Gostkowski now in Tennessee, the Patriots selected Rohrwasser in the fifth round of this year's draft, but they also re-signed Folk in the wake of inconsistency from the rookie during camp. After making 86 percent of his kicks over the team's final five sessions, Folk emerged as the favorite over Rohrwasser, who converted just 55 percent of his attempts. As a result, it wouldn't be a surprise if Folk is named the starter once the regular-season roster is finalized Saturday afternoon.
