George Pickens - Quiet in second preseason game Pickens caught both of his targets for six yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars.
Impact Pickens had a quiet game as each of Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson and Pat Freiermuth played. The rookie second-round pick still caught a pass from Kenny Pickett midway through the second quarter, but he also played at least briefly with the backups in the second half. Pickens has had an impressive training camp by all accounts, but he will still likely be prioritized behind at least Johnson and Claypool for targets once the regular season rolls around.

Pat Freiermuth - Racks up 35 yards Freiermuth caught both of his targets for 35 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars.
Impact Freiermuth saw his first action of the preseason and played the entire first half with both Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett under center. The second-year tight end only caught passes from Pickett, highlighted by a 24-yard gain just before halftime that set up a touchdown. Freiermuth will look to build off a solid rookie season, though he'll be catching passes from a new quarterback while also facing increased competition for targets due to the addition of rookie wide receiver George Pickens.

Impact Johnson played throughout the first half, catching passes from Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett. The fourth-year wide receiver found the end zone on an 11-yard pass from Pickett, but the touchdown was nullified by offsetting penalties. Regardless of who is under center for the Steelers in Week 1, Johnson will command a significant share of the targets.

Chase Claypool - Showcases big-play ability Claypool recorded one reception on one target for 29 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars.
Impact Claypool won a jump ball for a 29-yard gain on the team's first offensive possession on a pass delivered by Mitch Trubisky. He also appeared to have a 19-yard gain on a pass from Kenny Pickett later in the contest, though the play was canceled out by a penalty. After an uneven second season as a pro, Claypool will look to reassert himself as the Steelers' second receiver behind Diontae Johnson in 2022.

Mitch Trubisky - Sidetracked by pressure Trubisky completed five of eight passes for 60 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars. He also rushed for 10 yards.
Impact Trubisky wasn't as efficient as he was in his debut with the Steelers, but he wasn't afforded much time to throw. He escaped from pressure on several occasions, including one instance during which he scrambled for a 10-yard gain. While the performance wasn't impressive overall, Trubisky did connect with Chase Claypool for a 29-yard gain. Though Kenny Pickett posted a more impressive stat line, Trubisky is still the likely starter for Week 1 against the Bengals.

Kenny Pickett - Makes case for starting job Pickett completed six of seven passes for 76 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars.
Impact Pickett entered the game after Mitch Trubisky but was the more effective of the duo. The rookie first-round pick connected with each of the Steelers' starting receivers as well as tight end Pat Freiermuth for gains of 24, 17, 16 and 11 yards. Pickett also led an effective two-minute drill that ended in a touchdown pass to Benny Snell with 29 seconds left in the first half. Trubisky is still likely to be the starter Week 1 against the Bengals, but Pickett made a strong case for the job with his performance Saturday.
