Impact Pryor notes that Snell left Wednesday's session with a pretty big wrap on his right knee, so he's a candidate to sit out Saturday's preseason opener against the Seahawks. Snell is listed behind top option Najee Harris on the Steelers' posted unofficial depth chart, with Anthony McFarland, Jaylen Warren, Mataeo Durant and Master Teague also in the mix for backfield slotting.

Christian Blake - Joining up with Pittsburgh Blake signed a contract with the Steelers on Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The 26-year-old will head to Pittsburgh after the team also waived wide receiver Javon McKinley (undisclosed) with an injury designation Thursday. Blake spent the first three seasons of his career in a backup and special-teams role with Atlanta, and he registered a career-low four receptions for 25 yards across 102 offensive snaps over 16 games last season. The 2018 undrafted free agent likely will compete with Anthony Miller, Cody White and Gunner Olszewski for a spot on the Steelers' final 53-man roster.

Mitch Trubisky - Pulling ahead in QB competition Trubisky is trending toward winning the Steelers' starting quarterback job, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Trubisky has had his fair share of struggles early in camp, but he's still spent most of his time with the first-team offense ahead of Pittsburgh's first preseason game Saturday against the Seahawks. While Mason Rudolph has performed better than expected and Kenny Pickett is showing improvement as camp progresses, Rapoport reports that Trubisky will "almost certainly" start under center for the Steelers' regular-season opener against Cincinnati on Sept. 11. The team's quarterback competition remains open, and it's certainly possible that Pickett sees some looks at some point after Pittsburgh selected him in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but Trubisky seems to be gaining the trust of the coaching staff with just over a month left before the start of the regular season.
